Rotaract Rtr Travel. Dinithi Abeywickrama

Post Views: 93

During school, I never took part in any extracurricular activities, not even sports, because my mother wouldn’t let me. However, when I entered university, I found three girls who were completely in the same boat as me. Miracles really do happen, right!?

During our first year, they suggested that we join a club and at least have some fun at university life. As a result, the four of us joined the Kelaniya University Rotaract Club. To be honest, I didn’t check any groups and don’t know anything. One of my friends suddenly called me and told me to choose “Community Service Path” and submit the form, so I did. And just like that, we became part of the Community Service Path and even attended orientation.

At orientation, we applied for OC, and I and two other girls were selected for the Ignite Sri Lanka 1.0 project, while another girl was appointed to OC Swabhasamudra after the interview. I didn’t know anything about Rotaract until then.

At Ignite Sri Lanka 1.0, I was appointed as Public Relations Coordinator for Education. For the first time, we did something called a “fundraiser.” This was quite difficult due to the hot weather, but it was worth it because we were raising money for something meaningful. My sector is supervised by Rtr. Dinanga akka, my favorite director. He’s the only person I really talk to, even though we have three directors and a VP.

After “Rota Romp” I realized that the people at Pengmas were very friendly. Time passed quickly, and soon came the final quarter. It was a chaotic and busy area.

During that time, I was involved in several OCs:
Turn on Sri Lanka 1.0
Ignite Sri Lanka 2.0 (Research)
Ignite Sri Lanka 2.0
FinWave 1.0
Project “Sandahana”

Additionally, I joined the beach patrol for Swabhasamudra 2.0 and also did fundraising with my friends for the project. (I know it’s hard to believe, but that’s the energy of the first and second years of university life!) I also volunteered as an IT teacher in the project “Eduකේත,” which was implemented at the Deaf School in Rathmalana.

I had to handle 80% of the PR for Ignite Sri Lanka and 100% of the PR for FinWave. Oh my gosh, I was dying at that time. I barely had time to sleep, I spent the night making brochures and videos. (Ngl, I didn’t even know how to design a flyer when I first joined Rotaract!)

I have two TLs to ignore my PR, Chamodi akka for the Ignite Sri Lanka project and Senura for the FinWave project. Absolutely the most annoying TL I’ve ever seen. No one can handle things like I do – I swear.

As time went on, I became more and more attached to the club, especially Community Service Avenue, because of the bond we had as members and TL and of course, our director: Rtr. Dinanga akka, Rtr. Darshi akka, Rtr. Ravindu aiya, Rtr. Pabamini akka, and Rtr. Sachinthani akka. Their guidance, kindness and support made me feel like I truly belonged. It never felt like a typical “senior-junior relationship” – we were more like close friends.

Thanks to Rtr. Pabamini akka, I had the opportunity to participate in the final stages of the Swabhasamudra project, which was a truly unforgettable experience. Sayuri akka, Sasith, Pahan and I also went to Giribawa village by public bus and stayed one night to organize the opening ceremony of Ignite Sri Lanka 1.0. It was a fun and memorable experience for the four of us.

After successfully completing Ignite Sri Lanka 1.0, I felt like I was finally giving something back for the free education we received. That means a lot. I am so grateful and proud to have been a part of that journey.

At the end of my first year, I was appointed Co-Director of Community Service for the 25-26 term, alongside my co-director Chamodi akka, and under the guidance of our EXCO member, Pahan. As a team, we give our best to improve progress.

We started the year with two parallel projects: Ignite Sri Lanka 2.0 and Project “Their Voice.”

Ignite Sri Lanka: Developing Hanguranketha and Delthota villages through six sustainable sectors.

Their Voice: Be aware of menstrual hygiene and sexually transmitted diseases and donate menstrual hygiene products to children living in villages who don’t even use sanitary napkins.

Last season, we had to carry out a continuation of Ignite Sri Lanka 1.0 with four sectors, but this time we have to complete all six sectors of Ignite Sri Lanka 2.0 in Hanguranketha village within that time period.

From the beginning, the three of us faced many challenges (really). However, we continued to move forward and succeeded in completing almost all six sectors with our full commitment. (As I write this, we still have a month left.)

A big thank you to BOD and EXCO, because of them, Rotaract truly feels like a family, and I will cherish them forever.

My first year self would have been surprised. A girl who didn’t even know what Rotaract was became Rotaract and did community service across the country!
Because of Rotaract, I discovered my potential. I have come a long way, with thousands of beautiful memories, countless new experiences, and invaluable lessons. Although this chapter has ended, its impact on me will stay with me forever. This journey shaped who I am today, and I will always carry it in my heart.

Ends with love 💗

Long live Rotaract 🥂

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
