UEFA Hold WCL Draw with a new display for a new format

June 254 – Manchester United will face the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven in the second half of the UEFA female Champions League qualifiers.

The second half follows the mini-tournament format, with the semifinals and final play-offs and third scheduled for the end of August. United, who secured the third place in the women’s super league last season, was placed in group 1. They will meet PSV in the semifinals, with the winners to play Hammarby from Sweden or Metalist Ukraine Kharkiv in the final.

The victory in the second half will send United to the third and last qualifying stages in September, where the team competes in two-legged play-offs for places in the tournament league phase.

Elsewhere, Glasgow City will also compete in the second half, opening against Austria FK Austria Wien. The winner will move to face the Bulgaria FC Minsk champion.

In the first qualifying round, Welsh Club Cardiff City faced Athlone Town from the Republic of Ireland. The winner of the tie will play Croatia ZNK Agram champion in the final group for the second half.

Cliftonville Ladies from northern Ireland is also in the first round of action, where they will meet KFF Mitrovica, a champion in power in Kosovo.

New format, new display

Earlier on Tuesday, UEFA revealed a new brand identity for the competition when the female Champions League prepared to introduce the team format of the League 18 team. Last season, Arsenal won the competition, defeating FC Barcelona in the final.

UEFA said the visual identity that reflects the new format of the competition, and will hope that they develop the strength and recognition of the men’s Champions League branding.

UEFA Director of Women’s Football Nadine Kessler said: “We entered the landmark season in European women’s football, marked by the evolution of the UEFA female champions league and the launch of the new corporate cup in UEFA. Respect the legacy of rich competitions when lifting their profiles for a new era.”

As for the design itself, UEFA said: “In the heart of Rebrand is an aura,” UEFA said. “The new and eager visual concept inspired by the typical handle of the trophy that rises to the peak. This captures energy, ambitions, and brilliance of clubs that compete in the new league phase. The iconic star ring has been stretched again with aesthetics such as glass, allowing colors that flow and shift across their surfaces, symbolizing the two participating teams,”.
