PHOENIX – Seattle Mariners acquired Josh Naylor’s first baseman from Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday when the franchise tried to increase the lineup ahead of the July 31 trading deadline.
The 28-year-old Naylor hit 0.292 with 11 Homers and 59 RBI this season, which was the first with D-Backets. He was obtained from the Cleveland Guardian in trading during offseason.
Naylor hit the Grand Slam who won against Mariners in June.
“We are very happy to add Josh when we make encouragement for postseason,” Seattle General Manager Justin Hollander said in a statement. “Josh’s ability to achieve average and strength is unique and we are happy not to face it anymore.”
D-Backs acquired Kidal Brandyn Garcia, which has two performances for Mariners this season, and the small league of Kidal Ashton Izzi.
The Mariners currently has a record of 54-48, which is good for the second place in Al West. They are in the second wild card position.
D-Backed-which has a disappointing 50-53 record will continue to deal with players ahead of the trading deadline next week. The third baseman Eugenio Suarez and Pitcher Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen are among players with expired contracts that can move.
Naylor was the All-Star last season with 31 highest career homers and 108 RBI for The Guardians.
