Surprise continues to come to the NBA.
Three months after Mavericks traded Doncic’s wound to Los Angeles Lakers in the most surprising agreement in League history, Dallas got the overall pick No. 1 in the NBA 2025 draft on Monday night with only 1.8% chance of entering the annual lottery.
This is an amazing reversal of Fortunes for Mavs General Manager Mavs Nico Harrison, who attracted Dallas fans’ anger to part with the new franchise icon last season led the team to the NBA final. Now, Mavericks has the right to choose Duke Forward Cooper Flagg and pair one of the best prospects for years with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving to form championship competitors.
Of course, nothing can be predicted in the NBA. There is already speculation that Dallas might consider trading picks, maybe for Giannis Antetokounmpo after Superstar Milwaukee Bucks experienced the first round of disappointing door with a mediocre list that would without Damian Lillard at least a year after he suffered a torn Achilles tendon. San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers, each of which has No. 2 and 3 Picks no.
What does all this mean for former Maryland star Rerik Queen? A 20 -year -old Baltimore native is considered a potential lottery choice when the design starts on June 14 and will participate in the NBA Draft Combine this week in Chicago. Between interviews, exercises, and scouting research, there is still much to determine about the Fit of Big Men 6-Kaki-10 at the next level after the new student season that stands out for TERMS, but in the sequence of choices that are now revealed, the picture becomes clearer about the future of the NBA.
This is the display in which the queen landed in a new artificial draft -this:
The Athletic: No. 6 to Washington Wizards
The Wizards entered the lottery with a 14% opportunity to get the top choice after completing with one of the League’s worst records in 18-64, but they went down to No. 6
However, the queen can be a good entertainment prize for a team that has overhauled the list, front office, and coaching staff for the past two seasons. Not only the local root will be a hit for fans, but his ability to graduate, shoot and handle the ball will give Washington Playmaker to help eliminate some pressure from young prospects Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly, Kyshawn George and Bub Carrington – fellow native Baltimore.
“The queen is also from the DMV area and is a personality type that can be used by this team because it is seen to take the next step,” wrote Sam Vecenie athletics. “I also like the compatibility of the queen next to Alex Sarr, because Sarr’s struggle to recover will be greatly helped by the Queen position in the interior, while it still allows the team to play with several functions that enjoy five-out. The ability of Sarr to protect the rim from the weak side will also help the Queen’s game in the defensive interior, as well.
Bleacher Report: No. 8 to Brooklyn Nets
Nets have no identity since the “top three” Kevin Durant, Irving and James Harden are messy four years ago. Outside Cam Thomas, Cameron Johnson and NIC Claxton, there are some young players who are eager to the rebuilding list.
It can make the team’s face queen in a short time. Zach Buckley from Bleacher Report depicts the queen as “a unique unique prospect that can affect games with a combination of size, assessment, vision, and nuances that are rarely seen.” In Brooklyn, he can develop at his own speed.
“This will take a list of the right types to first let it spread its wings and then to complement their strengths and cover their weaknesses,” Buckley wrote. “With Brooklyn in the empty-slate stages of the list construction, Nets can try to slowly build something around the queen if they do not find this offseason fast repair option.”
Kevin O’Connor Yahoo Sports also projects the queen to Brooklyn, hearing “the potential for teasing” the big man.
“The queen is a big stocky person with a charming guide with a charming guard with a rotation and cunning layer, such as her leaning jumper who won the game to send Maryland to Sweet 16. From the beginning of her career with Nets, she can make an impact with the interior skills,” O’Connor wrote. “The question is how long, if ever, it is necessary to translate the touch of velvet into the perimeter. If he does that, he has an inverted offensive star. But printing the interior, the meat play, and the magnetic rebound himself gives him tempting potential.
ESPN: No. 11 to Portland Trail Blazers
Trail Blazers have never been to the playoffs since the 2020-21 season but showed signs of this year’s improvement under coach Chauncey Billups, completing 36-46. Led by young core Anfernee Simons, Shaedon Sharpe, Scoot Henderson, Deni Avdija, Toumani Camara and overall selection No. 7 years ago Donovan Clingan, there was optimism that the rebuilding of Portland was faster than the schedule.
According to Jonathan Givony from ESPN, “Queen conditioning, apathetic occasionally surviving and lack of firing range is the things chosen by the NBA team in this area (or earlier) will want to get a better grip in the predraft process,” but he is still considered the most skilled big person in this class.
“The lack of the queen’s shooting may not be suitable on paper for the Portland team that has struggled from the perimeter, but his talent may be too big to be continued, especially if the cling can do a jump with the shooting such as showing a flash in small doses as a beginner,” Givony wrote.
Ringer J. Kyle Mann also projects Portland as a suitable for the queen, which he calls “a few strange birds-most of the big assessments that can bully opponents but most of them are not.”
“The craft around the basket and the ability that is consistent to get there – whether facing up from the rotten line or choosing the spots as a screener that is rolling – almost useless in this class,” Mann wrote. “His role in defense and fragile shooting soaring on it, but the Portland list is large enough and long enough to cover it in the first, while his passing expertise and extensive expertise must find a good synergy of playing with their score guard.”
CBS Sports: No. 12 to Chicago Bulls
Bulls is one of the biggest losers in the Lottery Night. After the Play-in tournament, Chicago and Dallas are bound in the Lottery standings with 39-43 records, so that the coin flip is used to determine which team will get a 0.1% advantage in the lottery chance. Mavs won it, then jumped far to place No. 1 in the draft. This is a big result for the proud Bulls franchise that has been mired in a normal way since Michael Jordan retired.
However, Queen Landing in Chicago will be a pleasant result for TERMPS fans. Bulls has a pair of former Maryland stars in Kevin Huerter and Jalen Smith, the first two new school choices. While nothing is considered as the foundation and most of them come out of the bench, the queen will be mentioned as one of the young teams that are on the rise with Coby White, Josh Giddey, Matas Buzeis and Ayo Dosunmu.
“You might see Queen and Chicago connected in the coming weeks,” Kyle Boone CBS Sports wrote. “He is a skilled big man who will meet the need for male ox and helps the pieces in the front field connected to Chicago’s dynamic backcourt.”
