February 21 – After the trial gripping the country and the outside world and became headlines and headlines, former Spanish FA boss Luis Rubiales avoided prison sentences on Thursday because he was found guilty of sexual violence for kissing the World Cup World Jenni Hermoso on the lips without his consent and ordered by the State High Court to pay a fine of € 10,800.
The incident, which occurred at the award ceremony shortly after the victory of the 2023 Spanish women’s World Cup, did not only overshadow the nation that lifted the trophy but triggered global anger and caused Rubiales to resign and be banned by FIFA. The fall causes a boycott by Spanish players until Rubiales is deleted.
Kissing a woman in the mouth “is not a normal way to greet people who do not have a sentimental relationship,” judge Jose Manuel Fernandez-Prieto wrote a judge in his decision, said Rubiales had violated Hermoso’s “sexual freedom” without his consent.
Besides being good, Rubiales forbids him to get a 200 meter Hermoso or communicate with him for a year. But he was released from the accusation of coercion for allegedly trying to make Hermoso underestimate the incident.
“A kiss without consent is sexual violence,” said Spanish equivalent Minister Ana Redondo after the verdict. “The words of the victim must be respected.”
In his testimony, Hermoso said that he felt unappreciated and the kiss was “tarnished one of the happiest days in my life.”
But Rubiales insisted that the kiss was consensual and his lawyer argued that although not, it should not be characterized as sexual violence.
The court released three other former Spanish FA officials accused of coercion: Former female team coach Jorge Vilda, Sports Director of the men’s team Albert Luque, and marketing chief Ruben Rivera. All said they never tried to suppress Hermoso to do anything and claim he did not give an interest to the kiss when it happened.
Rubiales initially insisted he did not make a mistake and said he was a victim of a witch hunt by “False Feminist” but resigned after FIFA suspended him and opened a disciplinary case. During his testimony, he admitted that he made a mistake and that his actions were not the right attitude for the President of the National Federation but they should not be considered sexual violence.
However, the disaster did not end with a report showing that both parties would appeal for different reasons: Rubiales to clean his name and Hermoso believed that the decision was too soft after the prosecutor called for a sentence of 2 1/2 years in prison for violence sexual and 1 1/2 years for coercion.
