Lords of the Fallen developer HEXWORKS continues to improve the game at a pretty impressive pace. Following November’s major 1.6 update that introduced Umbral region exploration improvements, balance changes, and PlayStation 5 Pro support (detailed further in our exclusive interview), the Spanish team has released a major new update to improve the fluidity of combat thanks to more accurate animation cancellations , improved invincibility frames, more intuitive dodges and rolls, serious attack button commands, general stamina balance and much more.
These latest improvements are intended to make players feel more in control when playing Lords of the Fallen, especially in combat. In the developer’s vision, they also help lower the barrier to entry for new players while raising the skill bar for more experienced players. Version 1.7 also includes several quality of life updates, such as the ability to enable automatic Vigor collection (first added in November’s v1.6 update), more realistic enemy attack range and tracking for more immersive encounters, and further balancing of the New Game Plus experience.
Additionally, newcomers will now gain the ability to summon NPCs to help with boss fights before the first encounter (previously, this could only be done after the first defeat). HEXWORKS has changed their stats to make them more viable allies in battle. Version 1.7 also sees the addition of a fan favorite character, the Hallowed Sentinel Hound (also known as ‘Good Boy’), as a new NPC that can be summoned to take on bosses.
Lords of the Fallen didn’t score highly on Wccftech when it launched, but it has been updated heavily with several updates like this one. There is already a sequel due for release in 2026 that promises improved gameplay, better production values, and more improvements. We already know that this will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC, following a major investment by Epic Games.
Meanwhile, you can get Lords of the Fallen with a 60% discount on Steam. This offer is valid for a limited time only.
